Mechanical Test Engineer, Cell ElectrodeAs a member of the cell
modeling team, this engineer will explore and study electrode
mechanical swelling during battery cycling through test
development, test execution, and data analysis. This work will
build fundamental material understanding and feed into larger
mechanical simulations to support both Tesla's vehicle and energy
product development. The engineer in this role will be expected to
work alongside other engineering and prototyping teams to design
experiments, root cause testing issues, and synthesize data
efficiently.What You'll Do
- Design and execute experiments to test the behavior of cells,
including managing test queues and directing cell testing
- Analyze and interpret data through automated programming
scripts to quickly synthesize results
- Identify sources of test-to-test and sample-to-sample variation
and recommend changes to fix root cause
- Consolidate results into consistent workflows to be consumed by
other team members
- Document and communicate best practices and important test
results and fundamental understanding across a wide range of
teams
- Be a member of a cross functional product development team to
help determine the ideal cell design for different electric vehicle
and energy product applicationsWhat You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or equivalent
experience
- 2+ years of experience in test execution and analysis
- Data analysis skills in a scripting language (Python, MATLAB,
or equivalent)
- Experience with electrochemistry and cell testing
- Experience in equipment design, CAD, and/or FEA simulation
- Strong analytical skills to synthesize data into concrete
results to guide future experiments
- Strong communication skills and preference for working in

Compensation$84,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock
awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple
individualized factors, including market location, job-related
knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package
for this position may also include other elements dependent on the
position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans
