Senior Development Associate, Major and Principal GiftsABOUT THE
FOUNDATIONThe Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, in
partnership with Stanford Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's
Hospital, unlocks philanthropy to transform health for children and
families in Northern California - and around the world. Through
fundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientific
research, innovation, and policy change that will improve care,
advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and future
generations.MAIN FOCUS: Key support for the portfolio and
administrative needs of the Senior Vice President, Major and
Principal Gifts, and support for one other fundraiser in the Office
of Major and Principal Gifts.LOCATION: Palo Alto, CA (hybrid); the
successful candidate for this role will be based in the Bay
Area.ABOUT THE TEAMThe Senior Vice President oversees the
Foundation's Major Gifts and Principal Gifts teams-two independent
teams, each with dedicated leadership, gift officers, and support
teams, united under one executive leader. Both teams work with
individuals and family foundations to raise philanthropic support
ranging from $100,000 to $100 million or more. This work involves
partnering closely with the Foundation President's Office and
frequently interacting with the hospital CEO's Office, the Dean of
the School of Medicine's Office, and Foundation and hospital board
members.The Senior Vice President's Office of Major and Principal
Gifts is focused on advancing the Senior Vice President's
responsibilities as both a frontline fundraiser and an executive
leader. The Senior Vice President's portfolio is specifically
focused on donors who have the potential to make philanthropic
gifts of $10 million or more.WHAT YOU'LL DO...The Senior
Development Associate primarily supports the administrative and
portfolio needs of the Senior Vice President, Major and Principal
Gifts, and helps provide support for one other fundraiser in the
Office of Major and Principal Gifts. This person is a highly
organized, detail-oriented, strategic team player who can exercise
strong judgment, take initiative, and successfully work on
concurrent tasks at a fast pace. This person is an expert
communicator, and both comfortable with and excited about working
with various working styles, role groups, and job functions. They
are proactive and innovative in developing systems, routines, and
approaches to support the work of the Senior Vice President and the
Office overall.This role will occasionally be called upon to assist
across the Office of Major and Principal Gifts as needed. They will
report to the Assistant Director, Principal Gifts.YOU'LL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR...Administrative Management (-40%):
- Manage complex calendaring and scheduling for the Senior Vice
President, including negotiating requests, resolving conflicts with
limited or no consultation, and collecting meeting materials.
- Coordinate meetings and tours, which may include donors,
faculty, cross functional teams, stakeholders, and outside vendors,
while ensuring timely communications and confidentiality. Book
conference rooms, draft and disseminate agendas and briefings,
arrange catering and travel, and provide onsite staffing and AV
support.
- Partner closely with other Office members to proactively
forecast the Senior Vice President's daily and weekly schedules and
to track on partnership requests, helping to balance the
advancement of both individual portfolio and executive leadership
priorities.
- Help maintain processes for storing, tracking, and sharing
information.
- Process monthly expense reimbursements.
- Build a network of relevant administrative and faculty contacts
at the hospital and School of Medicine.
- Draft meeting briefing shells, donor correspondence, and other
timely donor-related pieces (stewardship emails, meeting contact
reports, talking points, etc.).
- Project manage the development and dissemination of donor and
faculty meeting briefings, select solicitations, gift
acknowledgment letters, and other collateral, proactively
requesting partner team support as needed.
- Coordinate monthly internal portfolio meetings, including
creating agendas, taking notes, assigning action items, and
documenting, tracking, and executing on next steps.
- Ensure event invitation, mailing, and other prospect-related
lists are reviewed by gift officers.
- Prepare gifts (cards, flowers, etc.), mailings, and pledge
reminders for donors and prospects.
- Assist with gift processing documentation.
- Collaborate closely with other members in the Office to ensure
strategic advancement of the Senior Vice President's portfolio
work.Database Management (-20%)
- Actively update, maintain, audit, and extract information from
the Foundation's constituent relationship management database
(Raiser's Edge), data reporting platform (Power BI), electronic
filing systems, and content-sharing platforms on a weekly
basis.
- Develop a strong understanding of Foundation-wide data entry
processes and procedures.
- Build, manipulate, and interpret simple queries and existing
reports to support individual portfolio work, in coordination with
the Data & Reporting team.
- Conduct light research updates on prospects and donors, in
coordination with the Prospect Development team.YOU MUST HAVE...
- Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant experience, or
combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in development or other related
field within the nonprofit sector and/or experience in a leadership
support role-or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- Consistently strong organization and project management skills,
and excellent attention to detail.
- Exemplary writing and editing skills.
- Ability to connect the dots across a large and diverse spread
of information, understanding how requests fit together and
anticipating cascading effects.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to build strong
relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise the highest level of

- Prioritizing a leader's calendar with ability to make judgement

- Project management in a complex environment, preferably in
healthcare and/or higher education.

- Experience complying with HIPAA regulations.
- Additional software proficiency in: Raiser's Edge, Monday.com,
